Dear Friends

Firstly I hope you all have had a good Christmas, and would like to wish you all a happy and hopefully ess painful New year, I have not been on the forum much because on the 23rd of December I went with my wife to see aa Neurologist at our local Hospital as for years she has had either extremely cold hands, arms, legs, and feet, or they have been extremely hot.

She has had this problem for years but it was only recently she was referred to the Neurologist by the Orthopaedic surgeon, on examination which included sticking pins into the above limbs he says because she could feel nothing below her elbows and knees, she has (CMT) Charcot, Marie,Tooth disease or as it is more commonly called Motor and Sensory Neuropathy.

She has been in depression since and we went to our youngest sons for Christmas day and she didn't really know much about it, and so dear friends I will try to get on the forum as often as possible but Lillian must be my main concern until all the tests have been done and as this is hereditery alll the family have to be alerted.

The first tests are at the Royal Preston Hospital for electrical tests then back to Barrow for blood and scans so the Neurologist an find which part of her nervous system is faulty, I know I can count on you my friends to think of Lillian at this time.

Thank you for reading this i'm sorry it's a long peice

Lv to you all

Albert & Lillian,

I am saddened to hear of Lillian's diagnosis and can only pray that she gets whatever treatment there is quickly and without uss. I also pray that no other members of the family are affected. Do draw on the Forum members to strengthen your efforts to care for Lillian whilst at the same time cope with your RA and other problems.

Do ask the Neurologist (and your Rheumy) to support an application from you for practical help from Social Services regarding care at home help (for ironing, housework, etc). And please, make a swift application for DLA (again with the support of the two consultants). Take care my friend.

All best wishes for the New Year.
Bob
